Artist statement

As a kid, I read books that showcased real life with a twist of effective alternate reality, that created a sense of magic and delicacy in a lifestyle. The words would come to life, and with them, the people. I studied authors, characters, lives beyond my own that I had to learn through pages and pages of written words; words that made me cry, laugh, and look at the world through mirrors of alternate realities. Thus began my journey into finding my own voice, and writing to present real life in order to be both a positive influence for others, and an inspiration for change.

​Humanitarian aid is something that I deeply value in this life. I believe that each life is valuable, and if I can get the chance to make a difference in this lifetime, I want it to be for the people. 

My style is also far more personal than others. Writing, for myself, has always been one way for me to express myself, and I feel very deeply that without my own personal experiences, my writing would not mean nearly as much to me, or anyone else. Therefore, this website is not only a place where I practice journalism and create a portfolio, but it will be a place for me to express myself in my creative writing as well. Because nothing would mean more to me than to be able to touch someone with my own life’s stories. 

Everyone deserves a story to tell, and an audience to listen. My dream is to make sure that those people get the voices that they deserve.
